Their feud is up in smoke, Cheech and Chong are high on reunion comedy tour plans

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Their feud finally having gone up in smoke, Cheech and Chong say they’re eager to get back on the road for their first comedy tour in more than 25 years.
“We had such a legacy, such a history. We couldn’t escape it, even if we tried,” Tommy Chong told reporters at a news conference Wednesday at the Troubadour, the Los Angeles nightclub where the pair were discovered more than 35 years ago.
The duo said their “Light Up America” tour will kick off Sept. 12 in Philadelphia.
“It’s going to be very theatrical,” said Cheech Marin.
If Wednesday’s news conference was an indication, it won’t spare the pothead humor, either.
“We’re definitely still smoking,” Chong said when asked.
“I get transfusions now,” quipped Marin.
“I like the taste,” Chong said. “I’m old fashioned.”
Marin told AP Radio earlier this month that he and the 70-year-old Chong had recently decided that if ever they were to reunite the time was now because, “You’re not getting any younger and neither am I.”
They tossed around some ideas and figured a comedy tour would be “the most fun” and “the least hassle,” the 62-year-old Marin said.
Marin and Chong, who broke up amid creative differences, have tried to reunite before, but have always fought too much.
“It takes about three minutes for that to happen, Marin said. “There’s this veiled hatred.” But he added: “We’ve kind of resolved that.”
During their original run, Marin and Chong released nine comedy albums between 1972 and 1985, were nominated for four Grammy Awards and won one. They also starred in eight feature films, almost always portraying a pair of comical stoners.
“We’ve gotten to the age where we don’t feel like fighting anymore,” Marin said, “because the end is a lot closer than the beginning.”

Cuil is hereeee.
Everyone has been up in arms lately about the new search engine that was launched today by a former Google engineer. They call it “cuil” (pronounced cool) and well I am sorry to say, on initial reviews (both my own and others) it’s not so cool. Cuil claims to index over a 100 billion web pages (three times that of google), which is great…if the results matched or found what you were searching for. I tried many terms and keywords today and very few times, anything of relevance came up. It’s lacking in media specific searches, like video and photos, and seems to spew out junk more than anything. I mean there is obviously a bias for the computer savvy population. They have been spoiled by the quick and easy to use search engines like Google. Google does bring up lots of junk sometimes, but you can usually find something of use…No such luck for Cuil.

All and all it seems like Cuil could become something good, maybe even great, but at this point, It doesn’t look they are going to be attracting many Google users…

I am a practicing Graphic Designer/Web Designer and often team up with Mr. DetroitArtist himself.
Okay, okay, enough about me, here is a music video by a Japanese metal band called Dir en grey.

DNA11 Personalized Portraits

I was flipping through a past issue of Wallpaper* yesterday and thought this a clever gift for a friend or loved one. DNA 11 is the original creator of DNA Portraits-the world’s most personal form of art. Established by web expert Adrian Salamunovic and geneticist Nazim Ahmed, DNA Portraits, Fingerprint Portraits and KISS Portraits let you make the ultimate personal artistic statement

Using a sample of DNA that you provide with a simple kit, DNA11 will create a one-of-a-kind artwork that you can then hang up on your wall. The images are enhanced with color and filter effects and then printed on canvas using the giclee method.
An extra large print was created specially for the launch for Absolut vodka, continuing Absolut’s long-running art collaboration tradition that began with Andy Warhol. The resulting piece is a 4 by 15 foot light box done in pop-art style.
My plan is to sneak a swab from a drinking glass or maybe while someone is sleeping, cant wait! The canvas prints go for about £200 or $350. You can also retrieve coupons from the web.

No commentsRooftop – wallpapers

a few people have asked me about the shot from main banner, and some friends noticed i had it as my wallpaper. they said i oughta put it up so i did. you have the choice the the sky or the rooftop. i took this shot from the roof of michigan central station overlooking the southeast side. click the images above,
or [download] both in a zip at 3404×2669 res.
if you live in the city, chance are you’ve probably grabbed your camera, a bat, and a few friends and went on an urban exhibition through the tattered halls. the view from the roof is gorgeous, it’s a great place to relax or to become inspired. restoration would cost around 80 million, but the city has failed to raise the money given the fact that there isn’t sure purpose for restoration. now that the casino has been founded, i’m certain that thoughts of turning the station into a casino are not far off. if you’d like a link to the photolog of ventures i’ve made here in the past six years shoot me an email.
here’s a video of two old timers reflecting on there experience in the station after the the closing of the station in 1987.
