Scarlett Johansson album, Anywhere I Lay My Head

This is the new Scarlett Johansson album, Anywhere I Lay My Head. The album consists of 10 Tom Waits covers and 1 original song, and has created quite a buzz, not only because of the performer, with Scarlett arguably being the most beautiful woman in Hollywood but because of the content, as Tom Waits songs are pretty revered among some crowds. The project has interested me, and I’m actually going to listen to this almost as soon as I post it.

You’ve heard what Scarlett has to say about covering Tom Waits, you’ve read what Bowie has to say about her covering Tom Waits, shit you’ve even seen what Tom Waits has to say about ScarJo covering Tom Waits. NOW IT’S TIME TO HEAR HER COVER TOM WAITS.

The record’s called Anywhere I Lay My Head, and the first cover to convert its way into internet friendly streamability is the title track. As Sitek told us on a snowy night a few months back, he was going for a “cough syrup/Tinkerbell” vibe throughout. That night we complained that Sitek’s dense production tended to bury her vocal — drowning Tinker Bell in the cough syrup, to fuck with the metaphor. We walked out thinking it was a swell sounding Sitek album, and Scarlett was guesting. This is just the first helping, but see how the syrup suits you.

Track List

1. Fawn 2:32
2. Town With No Cheer 5:03
3. Falling Down 4:55
4. Anywhere I Lay My Head 3:38
5. Fannin Street 5:06
6. Song For Jo 4:09
7. Green Grass 3:33
8. I Wish I Was In New Orleans 3:59
9. I Don’t Wanna Grow Up 4:11
10. No One Knows I’m Gone 2:57
11. Who Are You 4:20

fri, chi, mia, ana

we stayed at the hyatt this week, i dont know what jena and aimee said to the concierge, but they gave us the top floor next to the conference suite and the view was pretty tight, not to mention we ate for free cause they keep the conference suite stocked. did some clubbing. happy birthday jillian. got drunk ended up at some kind of a drag queen rave, with bongos. stumbled to a taxi, ended up at the wrong hyatt hotel, peed on some pedestrians. overall alright tuesday night. paul rodrigeuz, if you’re reading this, your friends at the green dolphin were very hospitable, sorry we missed each other.

Audio-Surf: Ride your music. Audio-surf portable torrent.

Ride Your Music

Audiosurf is a music-adapting puzzle racer where you use your own music to create your own experience. In Audiosurf the player controls a levitating spaceship-like craft similar to those found in Wipeout or F-Zero. The player then maneuvers it down a colorful multi-laned highway, collecting blocks in a manner similar to Klax. The shape, the speed, and the mood of each ride is determined by the song you choose. The ship is controlled either by a mouse, the arrow keys, the number keys, or a Gamepad.

Features:

- Play with any music from your own music collection
- Supported formats: mp3, wma, m4a, flac, ogg and CD
- Play with two players in single-screen cooperative mode
- Choose your strategy from 14 available characters
- Online scoreboards for each song you play

Minimum System Requirements:

OS: Microsoft Windows XP/Vista
Processor: 1.6 GHz Intel Pentium 4
Memory: 512 MB RAM
Graphics: 32 MB NVIDIA GeForce 2 (support for Pixel Shader 3.0 recommended)
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0 or higher
Sound: DirectX 9.0c-compatible sound card

Additional Info:

Set your graphic detail to Premium to take advantage of Audiosurf’s pixel shader effects. In addition to the arrow keys, you can navigate with ASDF or Tilde/1/2/3/4. For left and right click, you can use Z and X or comma and period. You can also play with an Xbox 360 controller, use either stick to
navigate and move both sticks in the same direction to get to a shoulder. You can use the triggers in place of mouse clicks.

[ another video of someone playing to some russian techno track]

Brilliant concept. Even if you’re not a gamer, this is incredible fun. You’ll be amazed at how the song comes to life in the course, with rhythm, tempo, crescendos, and beats propelling you into an intimate battle against the music of your favorite artists. So far i’ve played some justice tracks, daft punk, nofx, aphex twin, msi, and even some death metal and some snoop dog. The levels generated by a track can be played by people throughout the world and high scores get posted online, you can even view scores of local residents and medals are awarded per a song internationally. There are several different pilots and each has there own abilities and track types, and two players can play at the same time. So far my friends have called it dance dance guitar hero, i’ve also heard it likened to tetris on crack. Either way steam bought it up and its hot.

I downloaded it yesterday and now i have to put it away before it kills anymore of my work hours. If you’re in michigan my username is detroit, so you can see my music taste if you check up the local scores.

Support indie developers, this game is only $10, so for christ sakes if you enjoy playing you should buy it.

I scanned both these torrents and they are virus free.

Torrent 1: Audiosurf_-_Portable 51.94mb
This one is independent of the steam installer and was much smaller, and i hate caking up my virtual machine.

Worked great on my 2.4ghz duocore2 4g ram macbrookpro using vmware fusion, allowing 1.5g ram to my virtual machine. should work on a 1.5ghz pc with as little a gig. If you are running through a virtual machine you need vmware tools installed and directx9 enabled.

Torrent 2: Audiosurf – Detonation 396.48mb
This one comes with the steam install. i havent tried it yet, but it if the first gives you trouble, here’s a follow up.
