Improveverywhere.com 2008 food court musical

This is one of over 70 different missions Improv Everywhere has executed over the past six years in New York City. Others include the No Pants Subway Ride, the Best Buy uniform prank, and the famous U2 Rooftop Hoax, to name a few. Visit the website to see tons of photos and video of all of our work, including behind the scenes information on how this video was made.

My favorite is this one:

If you are interested in getting involved in New York you can sign the NY Agents List on the site. If you are interested in getting involved in your own town, join the global agents forum here:

AIbert Einstein, is a physicist

.

With all of our recent technological advancements, we’ve collected our greatest minds for the ultimate goal, allowing our god complex to dictate over our honed morality twisting it into ungodly reason. Without government restrictions, a scientific task force in a South Korean lab has executed their reprehensible agenda, and spawned the abominable cybernetic organism that is…
Humanoid Robot, Albert Hubo v1.0.

Abilities:
1.) Live Speech Recognition and excellent pronunciation.
2.) Can wiggles his ears (just like Albert Einstein would if he were here today).
3.) First jewish robot (unless i missed something from spaceballs).
4.) It’s a god damned android with Albert Einstein’s head.
5.) Is a physicist.

At the beginning of the video it looks like it’s suffering, so lifelike i actually feel a bit bad. If you’d like to see more of Albert Hubo‘s impressive expressions [click here]
Arnold will be president, and these bad boys are going to be at your door collecting the census and gunning down your children.

It’s official: Microsoft’s concerned about GNU/Linux

Without fanfare (as expected), Microsoft filed its 10-K form to the Security and Exchange Commission.

In it, however, we find that Microsoft bemoans the fact that their “business model,” well, might tend to suck in comparison to the open source business model. Not only that — and maybe you should sit down for this — all that, ahem, innovation stemming from Redmond might suffer because they would have to lower their prices to keep competitive.

Let’s take a look, shall we? Some of the more tasty, entertaining morsels are:

“Our business model has been based upon customers paying a fee to license software that we developed and distributed . . . . In recent years, certain “open source” software business models have evolved into a growing challenge to our license-based software model.

[And for this we are truly thankful.]

“Open source commonly refers to software whose source code is subject to a license allowing it to be modified, combined with other software and redistributed, subject to restrictions set forth in the license . . . . A prominent example of open source software is the Linux operating system.”

[Wait for it . . ]

Although we believe our products provide customers with significant advantages in security, productivity and total cost of ownership (emphasis added to highlight both the audacity and humor of this clause), the popularization of the open source software model continues to pose a significant challenge to our business model . . .

[When you stop laughing, I’ll continue.]

” . . .including continuing efforts by proponents of open source software to convince governments worldwide to mandate the use of open source software in their purchase and deployment of software products.

[For this we are truly thankful.]

“To the extent open source software gains increasing market acceptance, sales of our products may decline, we may have to reduce the prices we charge for our products, and revenue and operating margins may consequently decline.”

[One can only hope.]

The Cat’s Meow

From an accessories-laden fairground carousel at Chanel to an extraordinary stark-white tented environment at YSL, this season’s catwalks or fashion show venues, if you prefer, were as impressive as the collections they housed. Above: Alexander McQueen called his show ‘The girl who lived in a tree’. The set was inspired by environmental artist Christo.

Chanel Karl Lagerfeld’s merry-go-round for Chanel under the domes of the Grand Palais, swapped the horses for handbags, camellias, tweed jackets and other Chanel icons.

YSL White fabric was stretched taut between the floor and the domed ceiling of the Grand Palais, creating an intimate tented environment within the cavernous space.

Vivienne Westwood chose the Salon Impérial within the Westin Hotel (previously the Intercontinental) a favourite of old-school couturiers.

Hermès A 70-metre-long custom-made Persian carpet that ran the entire length of the runway and up the end wall was particularly notable.

The Muldoons

48, 10, and 13…14? They tour all over, and they sound really good, and at one point or another i think they opened for the white stripes. I don’t know if that’s what you call good parenting, regardless it’s a beautiful thing.

It’s a small world after all

nanotech1.jpg

Imagine a machine so small that it is imperceptible to the human eye. Imagine working machines no bigger than a grain of pollen. Imagine thousands of these machines batch fabricated on a single piece of silicon, for just a few pennies each. Imagine a world where gravity and inertia are no longer important, but atomic forces and surface science dominate. Imagine a silicon chip with thousands of microscopic mirrors working in unison, enabling the all optical network and removing the bottlenecks from the global telecommunications infrastructure. Image buying a three centimeter plasma tv for your ant farm. You are now entering the microdomain, a world occupied by an explosive technology known as MEMS. A world of challenge and opportunity, where traditional engineering concepts are turned upside down, and the realm of the “possible” is totally redefined.
MEMS are quietly changing the way you live, in ways that you might never imagine. The device that senses your car has been in an accident, and fires the airbag is a MEMS device. Most new cars have over a dozen MEMS devices, making your car safer, more energy efficient, and more environmentally friendly. MEMS are finding their way into a variety of medical devices, and everyday consumer products. What’s interesting is that the micro machines etched from silicon wafers you see above can go no further and nanotechnology’s focus now is on manipulating matter on an atomic or molecular scale.

Design, Nienke Sybrandy, Wouter Nieuwendijk and Suzanne Vanoirschot

Nienke Sybrandy

ascii1.jpg

I have to commend Dutch designer, Nienke Sybrandy, who created the original model of ASCII sun curtains. From a distance, the macro takes the shape of a tree. However, upon closer inspection, you can clearly see all the design is composed of hundreds of thousands of ASCII characters. Very dope, would eventually like to see her designs in color, perhaps on black. She also makes tea towels and handkerchiefs. She studied textile design at Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Her designs are inspired by those basic items that are often taken for granted. Call it geek sheik, whatever… just don’t get to excited, I ordered them before you had a chance to.

Wouter Nieuwendijk and Suzanne Vanoirschot

Wouter and Suzanne van Oirschot collaborated to create these very special ‘2D-furniture’ collection, all amazing pieces! I am showing you the complete series. The 2D-Furniture pieces are made out of black MDF and are printed with a Formica Photo.

You can buy the 2D-Furniture collection in Amsterdam at Das Wella Warenahaus, but you can also contact them directly should you be interested, also check out Wouter’s and Suzanne’s websites to see more of their work… looking at their bios I noticed that both Suzanne and Wouter were interns at Piet Hein Eek’s studio during their student years… no doubt he has a great eye for talent… anyway, thought you wanted to see these before the weekend starts
