D-PAN, The Deaf Performing Artists Network, is a national nonprofit organization founded by Sean Forbes and Joel Martin. D-PAN creates music videos featuring deaf and hard-of-hearing performers. Their first video for “Where’d You Go” by Fort Mionr, featuring Sean Forbes and Rosina Switras has made a huge impact on YouTube. The 2nd video for D-PAN featured Deaf performers from all over the United States signing to John Mayer’s “Waiting on the World to Change” which was met with praise from the deaf community.

I had an amazing time, it was a sincere pleasure to meet Joel Martin and Sean Forbes in the flesh. Howling Diablos were sweet as always. Thanks for the invite Lisa .’_’.

I was wrong in back in oh five when i called Santi White of Stiffed “black NoDoubt”, lol kind of. Though both later leaving there punk bands to exercised their solo career, Gwen Stefani does not have a double-major in Music and African-American studies. Santi White has proven herself through her unique stylings and won much attention with the releases of Creator and L.E.S. Artistes, her debut tracks from March of this year. During the month of April, iTunes featured Santogold on their Discovery Download and sent her hurling towards stardom.

This girl is gorgeous, innovative, and with the release of her self entitled album Santogold (last april) she’s just recently picked up as a very hot club commodity. I know I’ll see more collaborative works featuring Santi White before this year ends, it’s just like a Libra to keep the good stuff coming.

If you enjoyed the first one, you’ll be happy to hear the only difference is the removal of the white castle schtick. Wait, i just realized that made the movie worse. These two actors play off each other so well that it feels as thought there may be a genuine relationship off the set, reinforcing the absurdity and irony of the situation they find themselves in. We still got Neil Patrick Harris, a lot of pot smoking, ass & titties, racist humor, and now a right-wing opponent (Rob Corddry). While a few people might not be able to digest a comedy like this, those people probably aren’t high. John Cho and Kal Penn and NPH make you feel so warm and fuzzy inside. Would not see it in theaters, a worthwhile download.

Plot: This time, the boys get themselves in trouble trying to sneak a bong onboard a flight to Amsterdam. Now, being suspected of terrorism, they are forced to run from the law and try to find a way to prove their innocence. What follows is an irreverent and epic journey of deep thoughts, deeper inhaling and a wild trip around the world that is as “un-PC” as it gets.

A group by the name of YMCK recently released an intel version of their famous Magic8bit plugin. Until now this VST/AUplugin was only available for powepc. All i gotta say is this shit is dope. If Supermetroid or smash tv was your reward after six hours of class as a youth, maybe you too have a deep ingrained love for that 8bit sound.

Magical 8bit Plug is a plug-in style software-synthesizer for producing primitive electronic sounds like the old 8bit game consoles. In Macintosh environment, it runs with AU (Audio Units)-supporting applications: ex. Logic, Digital Performer, Garageband. In Windows environment it runs with VSTi supporting applications: ex. Cubase. Most of the software/hardware synthesizers include the most primitive waveform: square wave and pulse wave. But almost none of them include the pseudo-triangle or the low-resolution noise that will most characterize the 8bit sound’s unique taste. Magical 8bit Plug will help you producing the old 8bit sounds by providing those unique waveforms.

Since i’m not a musician i would never invest in anything other than maybe an analog controller or some pirated audio software. If you’re squarepushing on a shoe string budget, add it to your arsenal.

Crystal Castles is a Toronto-based band, consisting of multi-instrumentalist Ethan Kath and vocalist Alice Glass. I personally enjoy their remixes, and live performances. Some of the remixes include “Hunting for Witches” by Bloc Party, and “Atlantis to Interzone” by friends, Klaxons. If anything, make sure you download Health’s “Disco”(2008) below.. it’s particularly beuno.

history:
Crystal Castles, named after the 1983 Arcade Game by Atari, Inc., formed in December 2003 as a project started by Ethan Kath. In April 2005, Alice Glass recorded vocals for five original instrumentals by Kath. The band’s first single was recorded “accidentally”: a microphone test by Glass was released through MySpace as “Alice Practice” in September 2005. Glass was not aware that it had been used until record companies heard the song and contacted the duo to offer them record deals.

Since the release of “Alice Practice”, the duo announced plans to release their first full-length album on Last Gang Records, which was released in North America on 18 March 2008 and released in the UK on 28 April 2008. Watch this video to get your blood pumping. This opening really helped them make their mark, i’d like to see them in detroit.

Hello all, So last night proved to be an interesting night, full of fun and general quirkiness that comes along with us “creative types”. We started out slow, making and editing vinyl graphics that we will be putting on the detroitartist school bus, and eventually turned into Christos and I making a pimped out, 8-bit, African American, Mega Man strutting his new super-fly pink and purple armor. Gonna add a few more charge shots before taking it to the printers. Needless to say, we had a good time. Closed out the night with a pleasant recap of Ed Wood.

Plot: Hollywood visionary Tim Burton pays homage to another Hollywood visionary, albeit a less successful one, in this unusual fictionalized biography. The film follows Wood (Johnny Depp) in his quest for film greatness as he writes and directs turkey after turkey, cross-dresses, and surrounds himself with a motley crew of Hollywood misfits, outcasts, has-beens, and never-weres. The real story, however, is his friendship with aging, morphine-addicted Bela Lugosi (Martin Landau), whom he tries to help stage a comeback. Landau’s unforgettable Oscar-winning performance must be seen to be believed, as must Rick Baker’s Oscar-winning makeup. While it would have been easy to make a film simply ridiculing the bumbling director, Burton instead focuses on his driving passion for film making and his unwavering persistence in the face of ridicule and failure. Possibly the most surprising aspect of the film is the genuine sentiment with which Burton treats the relationship between Wood and Lugosi; his devotion to Lugosi is touching, as is Lugosi’s final soliloquy — an inane bit of dialog from the hilariously bad Bride of the Monster that grows into a poignant metaphor for the actor’s life and ultimate triumph of his spirit. Even the look of the film is right; it manages to preserve the air of one of Wood’s own films while retaining a sense of artistry in much of the composition on screen (note the scene at the drug rehab where Lugosi endures a horrifying night of detox). In all, Ed Wood is a unique film — at times side-splittingly funny; at others, tragic or even frightening — and a heartfelt tribute to the love of movies, good and bad alike.
